Exploring the World of Cybersecurity Entrepreneurship – Why I Decided to Join YL Ventures

It’s my pleasure to officially announce the next step in my cybersecurity career, as YL Ventures’ Chief Technology Officer (CTO). This comes after eight incredible years of dedicated cybersecurity research and throws me into a vastly different kind of practice and professional pace than I’ve experienced until now—which is precisely why I’ve decided to make this leap.

Joining YL Ventures, a venture capital firm exclusively focused on Israeli seed-stage cybersecurity startups, is a natural progression in my journey to expand my experience and knowledge across different touchpoints of the industry. In this capacity, I’ll be working closely with entrepreneurs to help design the market’s next game-changing solutions as early as their ideation phase. This will allow me to better entrench myself in the business side of cybersecurity solution development and hopefully serve as a bridge to fellow technologists determined to bring their visions to life. I’m particularly excited about working with visionaries at the start of their journeys and invite my peers interested in getting their feet wet in cyber to get in touch!

In this new role, I’m focused on providing hands-on technological guidance to entrepreneurs in YL Ventures’ pipeline and its portfolio companies by leveraging expertise honed over years of experience to inform their product development, roadmaps, expansion and value propositions. With the assistance of YL Ventures’ network of experts, I’ll evaluate investment opportunities from both a technical and business perspective in addition to supporting early-stage ideation processes.

It’s an honor to join the esteemed YL Ventures’ team of in-house multidisciplinary experts. While they’ve amassed an already impressive reputation among the cybersecurity community, they never seem to stop innovating ways to provide value to its entrepreneurs. As I see it, bringing on a CTO demonstrates just how much the firm strives for excellence as both an investor and a dedicated value-add-focused initiative touching everything from business development to marketing. I’m thrilled to have a seat at the table of such a passionate group.

The venture capital world is undoubtedly different from what I’m used to as a security researcher, and the decision to change my career path was difficult and daunting. However, I’ve always been drawn to Israeli startup culture and, up until this point, had always felt like I’d been watching it from the sidelines. It’s finally my time to dive in and maximize my impact. How could I pass up the opportunity to utilize my hands-on experience in cyber and technology as an enabler for finding, funding, and building new world-enriching solutions?

I’ve only just started but I’m already feeling energized by the possibilities of where this journey will take me. Let’s see how deep this rabbit hole goes!
