As Senior Partner and Head of YL Ventures’ Israel office, Ofer Schreiber leads the firm’s investment processes, oversees portfolio management, and drives value-add initiatives that help Israeli cybersecurity startups become category leaders. His work is focused on ensuring that visionary founders have the right support to navigate complexity, adapt to frequent changes and challenges and push innovation forward in one of the world’s most competitive markets.
Ofer’s deep sector expertise allows him to provide the kind of insight and high-level guidance that shapes both near-term moves and long-term outcomes. He engages closely with founders and management teams, helping align big ambitions with the realities of scaling globally and the demands of building companies that endure.
Ofer’s foundation is built on more than fifteen years in venture capital and deep ties to Israel’s cybersecurity ecosystem. Before joining YL Ventures, he worked at the IVC Research Center and served in Unit 8200, Israel’s elite intelligence unit, roles that sharpened his analytical skills and deepened his understanding of complex technologies.
What has shaped his approach most are the countless founders he has worked with over the years. He has seen that success rarely comes from just the strength of an idea - it comes from the emotional intensity, resilience, and adaptability of the people behind it. Ofer’s role is to help channel that energy by serving as a sounding board, challenging assumptions, and offering a different perspective on their experiences. Sometimes, that means providing emotional support as much as business advice.
He holds a Bachelor of Law degree from Tel Aviv University and is a regular speaker and commentator on investment strategies, startup trends, and Israeli cybersecurity innovation. Outside of work, Ofer is an avid poker player who enjoys the strategy, risk, and sharp thinking the game demands - skills that, unsurprisingly, carry over into how he approaches venture capital. He believes in the old saying that poker is a game of patience and well-timed aggression, a mindset that clearly resonates in the VC world. Of course, a little luck never hurts either.
